Welcome to another edition of the Pressbeat Podcast, also on mediumwaves 1575 kHz. From Paris I’m Ami Carter-Wilson.
An Open Letter to the Editor of Pressbeat Radio
Dear Jessica,
With the launch of Pressbeat Radio as a live platform this August, you have opened the door to a fresh morning programme — and I am writing to walk through it.
I propose The Word Today with Ami Carter-Wilson, broadcast daily from 6 to 9 a.m., covering the ideas, economic currents, and cultural shifts that define our week. Think of it as the show you listen to while preparing for the day: sharp analysis of the headlines, conversations with global thinkers, and grounded commentary that helps your audience make sense of the noise. I bring years of experience reporting across London, Hong Kong, New York, and now Milano — an editorial perspective rooted in reason, curiosity, and the conviction that people deserve more than sensationalism to start their mornings.
You may ask: why am I launching this programme alongside dozens of others, rather than ahead of them? The answer is simple. Pressbeat Radio was only brought live this August. Until now, there was no platform to host it. The show has been ready for months; what was missing was the door. You have just opened it.
I do not believe in waiting for the programme to be decided by people you know you can’t say no to. The Word Today will air at 6 a.m., Monday through Friday. And I intend for this letter to be both the pitch and the announcement — because once Pressbeat Radio is live, its morning slot belongs to someone who knows how to fill it.
You will hear from me shortly about next steps. In the meantime, welcome to airtime.
Yours sincerely,
Ami Carter-Wilson
